A
fascination with the natural world had developed throughout my
school years and was further encouraged and shaped at the University
of Lancaster. To complete my formal education I pursued a sponsored
study at the University of Reading, ahead of an industrial career.
Thirty five years later I have taken
time off
to
reflect on the collective experience of my professional life in
engineering and science.
Retirement from full - time employment has given scope for fresh
endeavours,
above all, the opportunity to visit and revisit wild places and
reawaken my childhood passion for the countryside and nature. Throughout the year I tread an unbeaten path to photograph
the rich flora and fauna
of the British
Isles. My favourite locations are wildlife havens, where I can
explore diverse habitats in search of
potential subject matter to capture on camera.
The close encounters, the real challenges and the
guaranteed
year - round activity make photographing wildlife an all
- consuming and rewarding occupation.
Migrating from film to digital capture and the accessibility of
electronic media has given me the ability to review and edit
images anywhere at any time and has spurred my enthusiasm for all
aspects of digital photography.
Many of the gallery images (all digital) are the product of
photoshoots in East Anglia and closer to home. For the future, I hope to visit the Scottish
Highlands and Islands and favoured locations further afield to photograph familiar and
rare species.
Creating the
IMAJTREK
website has given me immense enjoyment, I hope that you can find the time to visit the galleries and
perhaps
read the articles.
